We Have Matching Funds for Donations up to $20,000. Can You Help Us Double Our Money?

An anonymous donor has offered a $20,000 matching grant to KPFL to build a new shelter. Any money raised by August 2008 will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000. This is a tremendous opportunity to get the building started and enclosed before winter. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 1454, Libby, MT 59923. If you have questions please call the Shelter and leave a message and we will get back to you. 406-295-kpfl(5735) Or e-mail

Our current Shelter is located in the old Troy Animal Shelter which the City of Troy has so kindly let us use since our start in 2005. We have received word that we must be out of the building early 2008 so it can be torn down and the land used for something else. It has served us well but if you have seen the building you know that it is in very poor shape. We are raising funds for a new building.

We started with a perk and water test last fall and in January we got our well drilled and pump installed. In May the land was cleared in the area of the building. June 7 we had a community day and an Eagle Scout has started building a storage building as his project. We are on our way one step at a time and one dollar at a time. Our goal is to have a building up and enclosed before winter.

Do you have a special skill that can be used in building the Shelter? Concrete? Framing? Roofing? Building? Painting? Can you donate money (tax deductible) to the KPFL Building Fund, Box 1454, Libby, MT 59923 or call (406)293-6407.

Upcoming fund raisers are raffle tickets; selling tiles for a tile wall for new Shelter when we get funds to build a new shelter; rummage sale at storage unit in Troy in August; a food booth for Nordicfest in Libby in September; and the Bow Wow Bash in October. If you can help at any of these or have ideas for raising funds, please call Carol at 406-293-3435.

We promote spaying and neutering of pets and can assist people in keeping their pets by providing Spay/Neuter pet o our volunteer group here.

Adopting a Companion and Friend

Please look over our Pet List if you are considering adding a pet to your family. If you are not in a position tomake a life-long commitment at this time, consider fostering an animal. If you love animals but can't have one of your own now, love of many animals.

Come Visit Us!

We have designated Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and sometimes evenings as open visiting hours. We are usually there every morning but we ask that you call and make an appointment or checkto see when we are open for visitors so that we will have time for you. We are happy to have folks come in to socialize with the pets and walk them if they are able. We have found that when we are trying to get our work done and many visitors drop in it makes for a very long day for our time for you or have another volunteer come in to talk to you and show you around while we do our work. Call 406-295-kpfl(5735).
