Noel is a spayed female adult cat. She has long white hair with tabby patches. She likes to be petted, but won't seek you out. She waits for you to come to her. She would love to be out of the shelter and is a very nice cat.

Ringo is a 1 year old neutered male dog. He is black and white with short hair. He is medium sized and somewhat territorial. While he gets along with other dogs and people he would be happiest in a home with no other dogs. He may be a good guard dog as he is territorial and will dominate over other dogs. He would be a great 1 person dog to have as your best friend.

In 2007 we facilitated the spay or neuter of 450 pets in the Libby and Troy area. We can help you.

Since the end of 2005 we have taken in, spayed or neutered, brought up to date on meds, and adopted out 1217 animals! We are a no kill shelter. January through September 2008 we have facilitated the spay/neuter of 345 animals.

We're Building a Much Needed New Shelter

We started with a perk and water test last fall 2007 and as of Christmas 2008 we have the building up and it has a roof and is enclosed. We desperately need more funds so that we can get our septic system in, plumbing and electrical completed, fencing and kennels completed, and some interior walls up so we can move animals in and get them out of our plastic wrapped, cold building in Troy.

We are on our way one step at a time and one dollar at a time. Everyday is an exciting day of construction. See photos

Please attend and share your ideas!

Our next meeting will be Monday, January 13, 2009. We will have no meeting in December but we will be busy with a fund raiser at Pizza Hut, the Festival of Trees, selling raffle tickets and anything else we can think of. The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church at 200 West Larch in Libby. Please use the back door. We invite all our members and anyone interested and wanting to know more. A Board Meeting will follow if necessary. Join us to see what we are about!

Every day we have volunteers either working at the shelter with the animals or working in the background to provide funding for every animal and supply needed at the shelter.Becoming a member does not obligateanyone to volunteer his/her time. You can be an active or a silent member - the choiceis yours!

We have tax exempt status, which means contributions made to KPFL are deductible as charitable contributionson your federal and state income tax returns (subject to rules and limitations the IRS puts on contributions.)

Who We Are

Kootenai Pets for Life is a non-profit volunteer organization providing shelter and care for the stray and abandoned pets of the Libby/Troy area and offering foster care, veterinary assistance, and education. We promote spaying and neutering of pets and can assist people in keeping their pets by providing help with their Spay/Neuters if they are unable to manage them theirselves.
